    So, we tried ‘block scheduling.’ That was a dismal failure. Prior to that they tried ‘open concept schooling.’ That too was a failure in that we no longer use the “Community Center” as a high school building. Rochester is not a rich community. Where is the money going to come from to pay for this Big Step experiment? What happens if it does not work out? The poor students will never be able to get back the time wasted in this experiment. Back during the late 1960’s and early 1970’s is when educators started to monkey around with the ways that children were educated. That is about when drop-out rates started increasing, SAT scores started dropping, and students from around the world started to surpass US students in math and sciences.
